Rick Sullivan

Senior Pastor

Rick Sullivan has been the pastor at First Baptist Church of Artesia since 1995.  He previously pastored at First Baptist Church Farwell, Texas, Rimrock Baptist Church Billings, Montana and First Baptist Church Fitzhugh, Oklahoma.

Pastor Sullivan and his wife Carol, have two boys, Marcus and Jonathan.  Marcus and his wife Angie live in Abernathy, Texas with their children Samantha and Nathan; Jonathan and his wife Jennifer live in San Angelo, Texas with their children Lawson and Addison.

Pastor Sullivan is an active member of the Community of Artesia.   He was honored as the Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year in 2005.  In 2006 he was elected as the President of the New Mexico Baptist Convention.  He holds a Master from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  He also completed his Bachelors and Masters at East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma.

Pastor Sullivan has a love for God and a love for People.  His greatest desire is to see people discover their personal gifts, talents, and passion to use them for God’s glory.  His life verse is “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).  God has give First Baptist Church a great history and he is giving us a great future.  Come join us as we seek to find God’s purpose for our lives together.
